Gilbert G. Gonzalez is the Executive Vice President of Business Operations for Genesis Systems LLC. He has over 25 years-experience serving in leadership roles in the financial services industry, state and federal government. Before joining Genesis Systems, Mr. Gonzalez served as both a Chief of Staff and Sr. Advisor at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). He owns this distinction under two separate Presidential administrations.
While serving at the USDA, he managed the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Playbook to support the President’s Agriculture and Rural Prosperity Report. At USDA he worked with Agriculture Research Services, National Institute for Food and Agriculture and the private sector to develop the commercialization framework to accelerate the adoption of new agriculture technologies.
Before his appointment to the USDA, Mr. Gonzalez served as Director, University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), Institute for Economic Development. There he established the Rural Business Program (RBP) and led their research, revitalization planning and financial services to businesses, economic development corporations, and municipalities across a 79-county region.
At UTSA he convened the Texas Rural Challenge (TRC) conference with Governor Rick Perry’s and Governor Greg Abbott’s Office for eight years. The TRC is a state-wide conference focused on entrepreneurship, pitch competitions, trade, education, workforce, healthcare, e-connectivity and youth leadership.
Before joining UTSA, Mr. Gonzalez served as a CEO of a financial services firm he established that provided commercial loans to small-medium size business enterprises.

Mr. Gonzalez earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at UTSA where he majored in Accounting and Finance. Gilbert has served on numerous board of directors. As a native Texan, he is fluent in Spanish.
